My One-Night Stand Plan: We were at the McDonalds. A charming young man sat across from me, asking me what I would like to have. I met him on Bumble and his photos simply couldn’t capture his warm personality.
It’s a funny story. I was browsing Bumble, searching for someone relatable. Someone like me is a simple, no gym freak, no fancy watch-fancy shoe person, no vegan-kito following person, no model-looking person, just a simple person. He exuded a common-man aura that instantly drew me in.
I’m a sucker for stories. I love learning about people’s lives, believing it’s the key to understanding their decisions. However, here, I swipe him right for a different motive. Here, I wasn’t interested in the long game; all I wanted was a straightforward, One-night stand; no-nonsense encounter. I don’t like to waste my time and other people’s time, so I was very clear from the beginning.

How This Artist Made Me Ditch My One-Night Stand Plan
He picked me up from work and asked how my day was. He was lovely and very polite. It’s hard to put him into words, but trust me – when you meet him, the last thing on your mind would be a casual fling. You’d just want to sit there, captivated by his stories. And oh boy, did he have stories! Tons of them. Oh, I forgot to tell you, he’s an artist. An architect by profession, he possesses a vast knowledge of painting, color theory, photography, architecture (of course!), and countless other things I haven’t even begun to discover. Hence, the “artist”.
We always listen that the right person will love you the way you deserve to. But how can you conclude what deserves you? Everyone is flawed and imperfect, but they will always strive to give you the best they have. Love with them is not perfect, yet it will feel so right. There is comfortable silence when both of you are together. You find yourself able to open up to them, from your most painful memories to things you have never told anyone.

So, there he was, this artistic soul, looking at me with warm eyes and asking what I’d like to order. At that moment, I impulsively wanted to say “you,” but settled for a burger instead. As the night went on, I realized that I was starting to fall for him. There was something about him that was so captivating – maybe it was his intelligence, his creativity, or his kindness. I knew that I wanted to see him again. I know I am screwed. We reached a mid-way. Not the way I hoped. But he wanted to get to know me first, and I wasn’t quite ready to open up. There was no “shabang” that day, or any day after.
He was an unexpected, beautiful story, a delightful surprise with a charming smile and a love for McDonalds.
